About Gaston United

Established in 1992, Gaston United Soccer Club is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization whose mission is to provide a quality club environment dedicated to player development. We take considerable pride in providing an atmosphere that is focused, positive, safe, friendly, and enjoyable. We believe this environment cultivates player confidence, self-esteem, and ultimately, soccer skills. Our commitment to excellence will ensure that our players learn to have passion for the game, faith in their abilities and the tools necessary to excel in today’s soccer climate. To excel at The Beautiful Game, perseverance, teamwork and quality decision making are essential. Taught properly and well, the life lessons found in soccer can provide our youth with the skills necessary to succeed in life. We believe that wholeheartedly.

While GUSC offers one of the strongest competitive programs for youth in the Gaston County area, our club does not focus solely on the Elite player. We recognize that the joy and love of the sport should be available to all children regardless of age, gender or skill level. To that end, we offer outstanding Recreational and Youth Academy programs in addition to our Classic and Challenge programs. All of our activities are operated under the sanctioning of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) and the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).

Our coaching staff is comprised of a group of dedicated professionals, many of whom possess National licenses issued by the USSF and NSCAA.

Each level of the U.S. Soccer Coaching License Pathway is designed to meet the needs of coaches ranging from the coach who is inexperienced in soccer to the former professional player who desires to coach in amateur, professional or international competitions. The U.S. Soccer coaching curriculum is designed to improve development of players in the organized player base in the United States, concentrating on creating more organized, age-appropriate training sessions, developing coaching practices and creating an environment that is fun for the players. U.S. Soccer Federation is committed to providing soccer coaches, from beginner to most advanced, with up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge, so coaches across the United States can ensure that players develop to their full potential.

The NSCAA offers a comprehensive yet focused curriculum inclusive of all coaches at all levels of the game. The NSCAA staff coaches approach all participants in NSCAA Coaching Education programs as colleagues with whom we share the coaching journey. Collegiality and mutual, lifelong learning underpin all we do in our coaching education. Our mission is to help our fellow coaches grow and develop in a positive and professional manner in each and every course we teach.
