JONAS RICHARDSON

Jonas joined Gaston United in May 2016, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the role of Executive Director. Jonas holds 7 coaching licenses and was recognized in 2011 as the North Carolina Coach of the Year. In addition to overseeing every aspect of the club, Jonas coaches the 06 Blue Boys & 04 White Boys.

JASON BAILEY

Jason joined Gaston United in July 2016 and holds multiple roles for the club as the Director of Operations, Tournament Director, Youth Academy Director and Coach of the 03/04 Blue Girls.

DAVID SHEARER

David is the longest serving member of the club, currently the Girls Director of Coaching, having first coached for GUSC in 1998. David has coached multiple high schools in the area, winning the Conference Coach of the Year award with both Forestview and Hunter Huss. He played for Liberty University as well as appearing for the Charlotte Eagles. During the 2016-17 season, David coached 3 teams: 00 Blue Girls, 03 White Boys and 99 Blue Boys. The 00 Blue Girls had a fantastic fall season, earning promotion to the First Division.

VINCENT BOFAH

Vincent currently serves as the Boys Director of Coaching and has coached with GUSC since 2014 after spending 10 years coaching with the Steele Creek Soccer Club. Vincent a native of Ghana, spent his formative playing years in London, England. Vincant made appearances for Arsenal youth teams before going on to play for Southern Illinois. After a successful college career, he was invited to try out for Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer.

JENNY HOLDER

Jenny joined the staff in December 2016 as the Recreation Coordinator, and will be coaching her daughter on a U6 team. Jenny is a former Gaston United player that also represented Forestview High School. Jenny will be providing support and instruction for our Recreation coaches, ensuring the coaches have the plans and ideas to make playing and learning soccer a great experience for our newest players.

SARAH VOIGT

Sarah joined the Gaston United coaching staff in January 2017, for the spring season she will be coaching our goalkeepers one night per week. Sarah was a member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team player pool from 2009-11, as well as traveling to Germany with the U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Under-19 All-Star Team. She then went on to play for Notre Dame. She is currently a teacher at Gaston Day School, teaching English to 7th and 8th graders. 

For the 2017-18 season, Sarah will coach the U15/16 Blue Girls.

JOHN KELLY

John is a long serving member of the Gaston United coaching staff, joining the club in 2010 and having coached at the recreation, academy and classic levels. 

He is a former player with Liverpool Football Club under Liverpool legend and youth team coach Steve Heighway. John represented Liverpool FC in the FA Youth Cup and at the A and B team levels. John played collegiately at George Mason University (D1) under former USA National Team and former NY Cosmos coach Gordon Bradley. John served as the Team Captain, earned All-Conference honors, is the all-time assist leader and a member of the GMU Soccer Hall of Fame. During his fifth year at GMU John was a volunteer assistant coach. John ended his playing career playing professionally with the Charleston Battery, where he was a member of the USISL National Championship team in 1996. 

John recently coached the 04 Boys Blue to a spot in the prestigious Region 3 division having worked with the group since they were U9’s in GUSC’s academy. He also currently coaches in the Youth Academy, primarily with the 2008-09 boys.

JASON SHIFLET

Jason joined Gaston United in 2012 but has been a part of the GUSC family since 2009, with 3 children that have played for the club. Prior to joining GUSC, Jason coached various age groups within the local community for several years. Outside of soccer, Jason is a geologist with degrees from Clemson University and the University of Georgia.

ROBERT DANIEL

Robert is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. He played collegiately at Gardner-Webb University and has coached various age groups in Gastonia for over 15 years, including the last 7 years with GUSC in the Recreation and Youth Academy programs.

KIM TENOLD

Coach Kim has been coaching for 6 years, with the last 2 of those coming in the Youth Academy program. Kim has 2 young boys that have represented Gaston United, Jack and Ryan.

ANDY CROTTS

Andy is a new addition to Gaston United ahead of the 2017-18 season. Coach Crotts started playing soccer at an early age which included playing classic club soccer.  Andy was a member of the Region 3 Olympic Development player pool, and spent many years playing state select soccer. He then went on to play in college and has a bachelors degree from North Carolina State University. Andy has lived and coached in Gaston County for many years and is a father of 3. 

COLEY CAMPBELL

Coley Campbell is a new addition to the Gaston United coaching staff.  Coley is from Gaston County where he played soccer throughout his childhood and at South Point High School.  He went on to receive a scholarship to play collegiate soccer at Virginia Military Institute where he graduated in 1999.  Coley is employed by Southeastern Freight Lines where he has worked for almost 20 years.  He has one son, Caleb who also has a love for the game.  Coley has been coaching for 8 years with the last 4 at the club level.
